We were introduced through friends. It was actually a set up, but we didn’t find that out until later.
James popped the question in December; he took me away for a few days, we went out for dinner and when we got back the room had been filled with candles.
I think we knew Elmore was the one before we even got there, we’d seen pictures and the house and grounds were exactly what we were looking for. We were keen to find a venue that would be right for the ceremony and the wedding breakfast.
The combination of the old house (that we could have exclusively for the night) and a fabulous (soundproofed) party room was perfect for what we had in mind. Our choice was cemented when we arrived as Anselm and his team are absolutely amazing!
Not really, James being a photographer has an incredible eye for detail and knew exactly how he wanted the tables in the Gillyflower (wedding breakfast room) to look. I settled on the colour scheme (with James’ approval) – I wanted pastel colours in keeping with the venue and location, and we went from there.
Ben and James already knew each other, and although we did look around, we found no one who could match Ben’s talent and unique style.
He was so discreet, I can only remember seeing him during the group photos! He was like a fly on the wall and quietly captured some amazing moments.
We considered it, but our wedding co-ordinator at Elmore, Adele, was so helpful and efficient, we quickly discovered we wouldn’t need one, plus my mum is an event planner and was very useful!
Not really…we orchestrated!
What can I say…it was amazing. I set out to find something that was of course going to be gorgeous, but that I was also going to be comfortable in. The lady who runs the shop that I bought it from (Wedding Atelier, Lancaster Gate, W2) was incredible too; so knowledgeable and gave me great little bits of advice that helped me to make the best decision for me.
Hugo Boss suit, Tom Ford shirt and tie, and Crockett & Jones shoes.
No, I had something old, new and blue, but I forgot the borrowed!
We had a pianist play ‘Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence’.
Yes, The Owl and the Pussycat (which had most of our guests stifling a laugh) and an extract from Captain Corelli’s Mandolin.
Smoked salmon and pumpernickel; confit duck; and lemon tart. It was amazing!
‘Nobody Does It Better’ by Carly Simon. Our band did a rendition of it that was beautiful.
Everything went perfectly and it was all really down to Adele and the team at Elmore, she was absolutely fabulous; in the morning she was so calm and collected and she really made me feel like everything was under control. So many of our guests have since said it was the best wedding they’ve ever been to!
Plan, plan, plan and think about it from your guests’ point of view. Ensuring your guests are kept fed and watered and in the know (within reason) means they can relax and enjoy themselves – and so can you.
No, but planning really is essential. If you plan everything carefully, you can relax on the day and allow it to take on a life of its own.
Santorini. The most stunning sunsets we’ve ever seen, perfect weather and amazing food.
