What to wear to a winter wedding

From fancy fur to cosy cardigans, SoGlosWeddings has all the tips for adding seasonal touches to a dreamy winter wedding outfit.

With winter weddings promising to be incredibly picturesque, finding the perfect outfit can be a challenge if you want to look stylish but be practical too.

Embrace the winter cheer and get ready to dress to impress by adding hints of winter glamour to your guest attire.

Matchy matchy

Nail the perfect all-in-one outfit, with jumpsuits and co-ords being a great option. Choose from rich colours such as burgundy and forest green that will see you oozing with sophistication, or go DIY by pairing similar coloured tops and bottoms.

All dressed up

If you’re going to brave a dress, seek out long sleeves and high necks for maximum warmth. A lace overlay, or some floral embroidery can keep outfits looking pretty whilst still covering skin. Midi and maxi lengths are other good choices for the winter months.

Layer up

Layering is a definite must for a winter wedding. Slip a delicate short sleeve or long sleeve top under a dress or jumpsuit for an easy way to double up on clothing. Or, opt for a jacket…

Festive fur

Truly embrace the cold weather and go for super snuggly fur. A faux fur jacket, in a light colour such as pastel pink or white is the ultimate winter wedding coat. Alternatively, go smarter and choose a longline blazer over a midi dress.

Wrap it up

If fur isn’t your thing, cover up with a subtle shrug or bolero. A silky scarf or pashmina draped over shoulders looks effortlessly chic whilst still keeping chilly winter winds away.

Shine bright like a diamond

Winter months mean all the sparkle. A shimmer of sequins on an outfit adds a touch of glitz and glamour without being over the top. Look for silver tones or pearl embellishments for ice queen vibes.

If the slipper fits

Change it up for the colder months and ditch the heeled sandals – you can still keep it classy with a heeled ankle boot. If that’s not your thing, closed-toe sandals, pumps, court or t-bar shoes are also great for keeping your feet warm.

Hats off

Winter gives you the perfect excuse to go all out with your wedding headwear. If you’re looking for an extra something to add to an otherwise simple outfit, a hat might be the perfect option. Try 1920s style with a stylish feathery fascinator.

Keep the kids cosy

Let the little ones enjoy the fun and keep them cosy with sparkly glitter tights and cardigans. With a range of beautiful boots and cover ups, kids can enjoy the festivities without feeling the chill.

Suited and booted

For the men, winter attire brings countless options. Go out all with a three-piece suit; waistcoats, jackets and pea coats are a must. Fabric-wise, tweed or wool are popular choices in the colder months. Why not even try velvet if you’re feeling fancy?
