12 ways to create a magical Disney-themed wedding

Whether you're going all out or just want to pay tribute to your favourite films, SoGlosWeddings has 12 simple ways to create a magical Disney-themed wedding.

From castle cakes to Mickey Mouse ears, here’s how to add some Disney magic into your wedding day.

1. Once upon a time

Kick off your Disney-themed wedding with some bespoke invitations. Adorn your stationery with sparkling Disney font or opt for more subtle touches with familiar phrases such as ‘Once upon a time’ or ‘Be our guest’ from Beauty and the Beast.

2. Belles of the ball

Give your leading ladies the princess treatment they deserve with bridesmaid’s dresses in a spectrum of Disney colours. The variety of colours will contrast beautifully with a white bridal dress and make sure you are the fairest of them all.

3. Your carriage awaits

You might not be able to get your hands on Aladdin’s magic carpet or Cinderella’s pumpkin carriage for your grand entrance, but a horse-drawn carriage might be an alternative option. Suppliers including H J Williams Horse Drawn Carriages will have you feeling like a princess on your big day. Remember to be back before midnight or you’ll be left with a pumpkin…

4. Hey Mickey

Add simple yet effective touches of Disney fun to your wedding day with Mickey and Minnie Mouse ears for the bride and groom, or get everyone in the Disney spirit with themed headgear for the guests too.

5. Castle cake

Dress up your cake with a sparkling castle on the top, or go for a more specific theme from one film, such as an underwater cake in the style of The Little Mermaid. Alternatively, take smaller elements from your favourite films to decorate your cake, from woodland aspects from Snow White to subtle Mickey and Minnie silhouettes.

6. Disneyland dreams

For a hen do guaranteed to be unforgettably fun, why not take a trip to Disneyworld with your leading ladies? You could even take your Prince Charming for a romantic honeymoon after the celebrations and live happily ever after at Disneyland.

7. Fairytale favours

Switch up Alice in Wonderland, and think Alice in Weddingland. Add ‘drink me’ or ‘eat me’ labels to small bottles to mix in touches of Disney class to your table gifts. You can even go all out with famous Disney quotes on the tags of your favours.

8. Fit for a princess

Give your Disney wedding a true fairytale setting at one of Gloucestershire’s many castle venues. Tie the knot in style against a stunning countryside backdrop which will make for gorgeous photos.

9. Tea party

Disney offers endless table decoration ideas. From Alice in Wonderland’s Mad Hatter’s tea party or Beauty and the Beast themed china. You could even have a table plan with different Disney movies allocated to each table.

10. Until the last petal falls

Your flowers can also have classy Disney elements. Theme your centre pieces with a rose in a glass dome from Beauty and the Beast. Alternatively, pretty teapots overfilling with flowers are a lovely touch for a table and gives a subtle nod to Alice in Wonderland. For autumn and winter, festive woodland centrepieces with rich colours and bright red apples make for great Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs inspired decorations.

11. Prince Charming

Get your husband-to-be involved with the theme with some Mickey Mouse buttons or cufflinks. They make a great nostalgic addition to a groom’s outfit without being over the top.

12. Dance the night away

A Disney-themed wedding would not be complete without a Disney soundtrack. So ‘Let it Go’ with all your friends and family and enjoy dancing to a playlist of Disney classics for the perfect nostalgic end to your special day.
