8 ways to create a bespoke wedding

Want to make sure your wedding is truly unique? Discover eight ways to add a bespoke touch to your special day.

Whether an engagement is on the horizon or you’re planning the finer details of your big day, adding personal touches to your wedding is a lovely way to make sure it’s unique to you.

We’ve rounded up eight ways to create a bespoke Gloucestershire wedding, covering everything from impressive rings and made-to-measure dresses, to tailor-made suits and personalised cocktails, in this hot list sponsored by Beards Jewellers.

1. A bespoke ring from Beards Jewellers

Whether you’re planning on designing your own engagement ring or a wedding band with a difference, Cheltenham-based heritage jewellery brand Beards offers couples a completely bespoke service.

The jewellers, located in a prominent position on The Promenade, can create the ring of your dreams with the help of its experienced and talented team of designers. Couples can decide on the band and setting style, the metal and the diamond to ensure you have a forever piece to cherish.

Beards’ bespoke service includes Champagne on arrival, followed by a consultation with an award-winning designer who will create unique sketches, then CAD designs and a 3D prototype. Couples can go to the workshop, visiting the goldsmiths and stonesetters as they transform their visions into reality, followed by a fitting appointment.

2. A made-to-measure dress

Having recently celebrated 20 years in the industry, Stroud-based wedding dress designer, Ellie Lowe certainly knows a thing or two about creating the perfect gown.

The bespoke service includes a free consultation, during which Ellie gets a feel for what the bride wants. A made-to-measure dress is ideal for ensuring that your dress is made to precisely your size and shape, and Ellie often uses rare, vintage or unusual fabrics, which all add to its unique factor.

3. Personalised stationery

Cheltenham’s Emerald Paper Design offers a completely bespoke service so you can ensure that your wedding stationery is 100 per cent unique. Run by talented designer Emma Barnes, the stationery service includes everything from save the dates and invitations, to table plans and order of services.

Previous creations span whimsical watercolour invitations to match a bride’s bouquet, and tropical-themed designs, along with delicate calligraphy place settings and table numbers.

4. Brew your own beer

Give your drinks reception a personalised touch by treating your wedding guests to a completely unique ale on your special day, with Hillside Brewery offering the chance to create your own beer alongside the help of the head brewer.

The full-day brewing experience takes place at the brewery in the Forest of Dean and invites guests to learn how to create one of Hillside’s classic ales or design your own recipe. Plus, you can create a custom label that makes it even more special for wedding celebrations.

5. A bespoke suit

For grooms who want to look sharp on their wedding days, a bespoke suit is just the ticket. Barrington Ayre in Cirencester offers a made-to-measure tailoring service for two and three-piece designs, including a morning suit.

Made to your design and from your exact measurements, the suits are available in a variety of fabrics and patterns so you can be sure that you look the part when you walk down the aisle.

6. Bouquets to impress

Whether you have favourite blooms you want to incorporate into your bouquet or there’s a certain style you love, creating bespoke wedding flowers is a beautiful way to add colour and texture to your special day.

The Flowers Girls is a Cheltenham-based wedding florist that specialises in creating bespoke romantic flowers. Florist Emma Matthews works closely with couples to ensure that your flowers work with your venue, theme and budget.

7. A blank canvas venue

Choosing a venue that lends itself to many different wedding themes is the perfect way to add a bespoke touch to your special day. Couples getting married in Gloucestershire are spoilt for choice when it comes to blank canvas venues, including Elmore Court, The Barn at Upcote and Owlpen Manor.

If you feel daunted by the prospect of styling a venue, start by creating a Pinterest board where you can collate all your ideas, including centrepieces, table decorations and props. And remember that many of the venue’s dedicated wedding coordinators will be able to help with bringing your vision to life.

8. Signature cocktails

Creating a signature wedding cocktail that incorporates your favourite spirits is a nice idea for adding personality to drinks receptions. The Cotswold Bar Company is a Cheltenham-based mobile bar that travels to venues across Gloucestershire to serve tailor-made cocktails from its converted vintage van.

From classic mojito to a French martini, there are all manner of delicious drinks that you can treat your guests to. If you need inspiration, discover ideas for six signature cocktails to serve at your wedding.
