Following the grand unveiling of this year’s British Wildlife Photography Award winners, Gloucester gallery Nature in Art is one of the lucky few across the country selected to exhibit the winning pictures from Tuesday 9 October to Sunday 25 November 2012.
Described by organisers as a celebration of British wildlife and showcase of talented photographers of all ages, the awards captured the imagination of thousands, who collectively created a stunning and innovative series of images championing British flora and fauna at its best.
The winning image from Dr Matt Doggett, entitled ‘Gannet Jacuzzi’, was taken on a remote location off the North coast of Scotland and is said to have captured the raw power and grace of diving gannets, being hailed as ‘beautiful and evocative’ by the WWF.
Competition director Maggie Gowan said: ‘This has been the highest level of entries so far since the competition launched in 2009. Especially satisfying has been the increase in young entries with the partnership between RSPB Wildlife Explorers and BWPA, which bodes well for the future of wildlife conservation and photography.’
With rare animals and marine life, living landscapes and wild woods all forming part of the exhibition, don’t miss your chance to see some of the country’s most unique and stunning shots, right on your doorstep.
Please note, the dates listed below apply to the opening fortnight of this exhibition only. Full dates for this exhibition are Tuesday 9 October 2012 to Sunday 25 November 2012.
