Local lad Jack Guest, described as nothing less than an extraordinary young filmmaker from Cheltenham, is celebrating a particular achievement this week, as his three-part documentary series An Inconvenient Truth 2 is to be aired on the small screen.

Kicking off on the Community Channel from this evening at 8.30pm, available on Sky channel 539 and Virgin TV channel 233, the documentary is inspired by former US vice president Al Gore’s 2006 documentary An Inconvenient Truth, and sees Jack travel by boat to Sweden – a country said to be aiming to break its dependency on oil by 2020 – to speak with leading politicians, scientists and entrepreneurs.

Jack also meets with families committed to reducing their impact on the environment and visits an eco-village completely dependent on renewable resources.

Commenting on the documentary Jack said: ‘In no uncertain terms we face a huge problem on planet Earth and An Inconvenient Truth 2 looks at turning that problem into an opportunity, showing that we can make things work, for everybody. It gives a positive message that things can get better and that change does not have to mean sacrifice.’

‘We already have the answers to climate change and we just need to implement them. The solutions for a stable climate do exist and they can enrich rather than restrict our daily lives’, he continued.

After graduating in philosophy and politics, Jack single-handedly funded, directed and produced the film in order to address the impact of climate change, and uncover workable solutions.
