Zara Tindall appointed as director of Cheltenham Racecourse

Alongside being an equestrian, Olympian, racehorse owner, MBE, wife, mother and granddaughter to the Queen, Zara Tindall will take on a new role in 2020 – as a committee director at Cheltenham Racecourse.

Zara’s new non-executive role will begin on New Year’s Day for the first fixture of 2020 at Cheltenham. As a committee director, Zara will help to support the chairman and executive to ensure the racecourse operates successfully.

Perfectly experienced for the role, Zara is a regular visitor to Cheltenham and lives in Gloucestershire with her husband Mike Tindall MBE and their two daughters; and has owned, bred and trained a number of racehorses alongside Cotswold trainer, Martin Keighley.

Speaking of her new role, Zara said: ‘I’m passionate about horseracing, particularly on the jumps side, and the absolute pinnacle of that is Cheltenham. Racing is simply the most exciting sport and it’s open to all.

‘It’s an honour to have been asked by Martin St Quinton on behalf of The Jockey Club to get involved in a more formal capacity and I look forward to doing my bit to support the executive team in the years to come.’
