With the sun shining, the SoGlos.com team slipped out of the office for a leisurely afternoon’s sojourn to the Cheltenham Food and Drink Festival 2009.

Thousands of Gloucestershire gastronomes turned out for the three-day Food and Drink Festival in Cheltenham’s Montpellier Gardens this June – and SoGlos.com’s salivating team were among the Friday afternoon throngs at the first day of the summer event.

From sampling the Spice Lodge’s tangy samosas handmade in Cheltenham and fawning for the Angel Bakery’s delicate cupcakes iced in the Cotswolds, to taking a big bite of kangaroo burgers shipped over from Australia, the international flavour of the Cheltenham Food Festival continued to impress in its second year.

The live music provided entertainment for the cider, perry and wine drinkers all satisfyingly sipping their tipples alfresco, while flaming hot cookery demonstrations provided a pastime for budding cooks who diligently wrote notes while some of the county’s best chefs shared pearls of kitchen wisdom.

After a few enjoyable hours meandering through the many tents and marquees lining Montpellier Gardens, it was with hands full of shopping bags, bellies full of delicious morsels, and heads full of ambitious culinary plans that the SoGlos.com teams shuffled home – satisfied in the knowledge that the Cheltenham Food and Drink Festival 2010 would be pencilled in the diary before long.
