The Wharf House wins AA Red Rosette

News – Expect a lip smacking meal out and a good night's sleep in Gloucester, as The Wharf House Restaurant wins both a coveted AA Red Rosette for culinary excellence and four AA stars for its accommodation.

Fantastic news for Gloucester’s restaurant scene this week, as The Wharf House Restaurant in Over has just been awarded a coveted AA Red Rosette.

Said to be the only restaurant in Gloucester to receive the prestigious accolade, the award was made after the restaurant and accommodation were recently assessed for quality and consistent standards of hospitality, service, food and comfort.

The Wharf House’s commercial director, David Penny, commented: ‘I am very proud of how far we have come over the last five years and receiving this acknowledgement proves the team who have worked so hard have an exciting future.’

According to The Automobile Association website, AA Rosettes are solely awarde by AA hotel and restaurant inspectors, with one Rosette representing restaurants which achieve standards that stand out in their local area – serving food prepared with care, understanding and skill, using good quality ingredients.

The venue has also received a second rating, in the form of four AA stars for its accommodation facilities. This is awarded to accommodation providers who offer an attentive, more personalised service. At least half of the bedrooms must be en-suite, while beds must be very good and the furniture of a high quality. Last but not least, breakfast must offer a good choice, with fresh ingredients being cooked and presented with a high level of care.

All boxes have been confidently ticked by The Wharf House Accommodation, where facilities include spa baths in some rooms, Egyptian cotton linen, luxury toiletries and touches such as hand made biscuits awaiting guests in their room.

The Wharf House team are said to be passionate about building on their existing reputation and are looking forward to this year’s Christmas season – which begins on Monday 1 November 2010 and runs right through until Monday 31 January 2011.
