Gloucester Guildhall is situated in the heart of the city and offers an eclectic line-up of theatre performances and comedy nights, with a number of big name acts taking to the stage throughout the year.

The Big Laugh Café is particularly popular – Gloucestershire’s longest running monthly comedy club – bringing audiences three of the best stand-ups on the circuit, great food, a late bar and good music each month. Past performers have included Alan Carr, Jimmy Carr, Noel Fielding and Catherine Tate.

Visitors will find both drama classes and workshops on offer, while Gloucester Guildhall also plays home to café-bar The Place, regular art exhibitions, live music gigs and film and cinema screenings.

I attended the Cajun and Zydeco Festival this weekend and it was a fantastic event. Someone said that it might be stopping next year. I wanted to find out if this is true and to say I think it would be a feel pity as it is such a great event? 26 January 2009

The monthly comedy nights are usually excellent. There have been one or two not-so-good ones, but I must have been to about 10 so all in all pretty good! The crowd is always good to and there's a lively atmosphere. My only recommendation is to arrive early. Oh, and I took a first date to one night which ended up being a good choice as we're still together! 5 January 2009
