Gloucestershire Day launched to celebrate the county

The whole county is being invited to join in with the Gloucestershire Day celebrations on Tuesday 21 September 2021 – with the social media hashtag #GlosDay being used to showcase all the great things going on here.

Organisers of Gloucestershire Day have revealed their goal for 2021 – to support local businesses and showcase everything that makes our county such a great place to live, work and visit.

Recognising the extremely challenging year many in business and their staff have faced, the new annual celebration of all things Gloucestershire (in only its second year) hopes its support can give them all a valuable boost.

Gloucestershire County Council is joining forces with Visit Gloucestershire to draw attention to the county’s many brilliant hotels, restaurants, pubs, clubs, theatres arts venues, small start-ups and large employers, with two county council funds being highlighted to help with local recovery post pandemic too.

Cllr Mark Hawthorne, leader of the county council, said: ‘Gloucestershire Day is the perfect opportunity to show the best of what our local business community has to offer and to remind people what support is out there to help them to thrive.

‘The support of our community is also key to making sure that we bounce back stronger than ever, and I would urge everyone to shop local, to visit local places and seek out all the great local entertainment and dining experiences on offer.’

Visit Gloucestershire, itself set up to drive the county’s visitor economy, will also be showcasing what it is calling ‘30 of its best’ for 30 days following Gloucestershire Day, from Tuesday 21 September 2021, on Instagram and Facebook.

Everyone, from business owners to local residents, are being encouraged to get involved using posting to their own social media – giving a shout out for a local business, the place they work, hidden gems worth a visit and great places to eat, drink, rest and play using the hashtag #GlosDay, which SoGlos will also be taking part in.
