Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust is helping families stay close to nature during lockdown

From kids’ activity packs to top gardening tips, Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust is helping families maintain their connection to nature during the Coronavirus lockdown.

Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust has created a set of advice and activity pages on its website, encouraging families to enjoy ‘wildlife through their window’ during the Coronavirus lockdown.

From colouring-in sheets to gardening tips for children, as well as advice for grown-ups hoping to invite wildlife into their gardens, there is plenty to keep people of all ages entertained – including live webcams allowing families to stream footage of barn owls, badgers and more into their homes.

A key feature of the kids’ zone is a selection of downloadable spotter sheets, helping children to identify spring species in their own gardens or on their daily walks to make the most of their time outside.

The Trust also plans to launch expert podcasts, as well as wildlife activity videos produced by its dedicated learning team.

Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust’s head of community programmes, Lorna Fox, comments: ‘Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust is continuing to connect people to nature at this vital time; to support people’s physical and mental wellbeing, to encourage communities to observe, keep active and to learn more about our natural environment and to stay in touch, not just with each other, but with the outdoors.’
