Friday 18 October to Monday 4 November 2019

Artist Luke Jerram's impressive Museum of the Moon will rise in the Nave of Gloucester Cathedral, this October. And it's free to visit.

The Museum of the Moon is set to rise in the Nave of Gloucester Cathedral from Wednesday 16 October to Monday 4 November 2019 – a free exhibition ending the 50th anniversary of the moon landings.

This interstellar exhibition from artist Luke Jerram, displays a 3D replica of the Moon, internally lit and floating in the Nave of the Cathedral. The lunar imagery will be accompanied by immersive surround sound composed by BAFTA award winner, Dan Jones.

Set to leave visitors star-struck, this exhibition makes Gloucester the first city in the northern hemisphere to host Jerram’s replicas of both the earth and the moon. Special events, some ticketed, will populate the moon’s residency in the nave of the Cathedral, along with late night openings and quiet times to enhance the experience.

In addition to the moon viewings, visitors can enjoy a range of moon-inspired events including talks celebrating the anniversary of the moon landings, moon tower tours, meditation, children’s drawing events, moon-themed crafts, storytelling, lectures on space, theatrical performances, library tours and a space seekers trail.
