In collaboration with King's Walk and the Pied Piper Appeal, step back in time this spring to celebrate the 80th anniversary of VE Day, here in Gloucestershire.

Taking place on Saturday 10 May 2025 from 1pm to 4pm, grab your dancing shoes and head to Kings Square in Gloucester when it transforms into a nostalgic celebratory space, decorated with patriotic flags and bunting — offering an afternoon of music, dance and traditional refreshments.

Free to attend, see live swing band Moonlighting as it takes to the stage, spreading the sound of the 1940s, with VE Day-themed music playing throughout the event.

Plus, enjoy an authentic British tea experience with classic cakes and hot drinks available to purchase on the day.

All proceeds from refreshments goes towards the Pied Piper Appeal, supporting its essential work for children in the county.

VIP guests include Gloucester MP, Alex McIntyre, as the well as mayor Lorraine Campbell and sheriff Pam Tracey, showing their support for this officially registered VE Day celebration.

Jason Robinson, senior destination manager for King’s Walk, said: 'Kings Square has always been a space for bringing the community together and this VE Day celebration is a wonderful way to honour such a historic occasion.

'With fantastic live music, dancing and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, it promises to be a truly special afternoon.'
