Head to Slimbridge Wetland Centre for a season of firsts this spring 2026, as it teams up with Macmillan Children’s Books for a brand-new, interactive trail inspired by beloved author Julia Donaldson and illustrator Sarah Ogilvie's newest book.

What's on at Slimbridge Wetland Centre this spring 2026?

A new trail inspired by Julia Donaldson and Sara Ogilvie's freshly hatched picture book, Gozzle, is heading to Slimbridge Wetland Centre this spring – running from Friday 20 March through until Sunday 31 May 2026.

What to expect from Gozzle at Slimbridge Wetland Centre?

Bringing storytelling off the page and into nature through outdoor play, exploration and imagination, the interactive trail around the wetlands follows Gozzle's journey from fuzzy fledgling to grown-up goose.

Along the way, families can strike a pose and pretend to be their favourite animal; sniff out food in the reeds; practice their balance hopping along the stepping stones; and see if they can spot all 15 of the mini Gozzles hiding along the trail, before they reach the giant goose wings and wave Gozzle off on her migration adventure.

There's a guided Vet Check station activity during weekends and the school holidays, where little ones can nurse a toy goose back to full health, learning how to handle, weigh, measure and even X-ray birds, just like a real WWT vet.

And pick up a Gozzle activity pack with stickers, puzzles, games and a bear headband, so children can play along as Gozzle's faithful friend as they follow the route around the wetlands as they burst into life with spring flowers.

You can also get a copy of Gozzle from the gift shop to take home and read – perfect for a bedtime story after a busy day out!
