Sudeley Castle invites visitors to step into a magical realm this October 2023, with everything from The Wise Woman sharing the secret powers of plants to slime-making workshops and nature-based crafts.

Putting the magic into Halloween, Sudeley Castle and Gardens in Winchcombe is inviting visitors to step into a magical realm this Halloween half term.

As the veil wears thin, the spellbinding venue invites visitors to explore the historic building and its award-winning gardens to discover how science, history and nature influence the world of magic at its special Halloweek event, taking place from Saturday 28 October until Sunday 5 November 2023.

With a spooky spell cast over the Animal Ark covering the animals in cobwebs and pumpkins, visitors can come face to face with life-size familiars like bats, lizards and bears and experience real-life magic in front of their very eyes with the newly-launched Animal Ark virtual reality experience all week long — as well as taking part in a variety of magic-themed workshops on selected dates, too...

The Wise Woman at Sudeley Castle's Halloweek

Letting little ones in on the secret power of plants, The Wise Woman from Past Times Living History is at Sudeley Castle on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 October, then again on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 November 2023. As well as sharing the recipes for some of her gruesome remedies, children will be able to make their very own Tudor-style perfumed pomander to take home, too.

Silly Science Workshops at Sudeley Castle's Halloweek

Designed to inspire young minds, budding scientists can get their hands messy making Halloween slime and magic potions on Tuesday 30 October 2023. Or if eye of newt isn't to their taste, there'll be rocket popping and chromatography disc workshops taking place throughout the day on Friday 3 November 2023. Be sure to look out for Queen Elizabeth I's astrologer, John Dee, roaming the grounds telling tall tales — he's sure to have a few tricks up his sleeve, too.

Dig and Delve at Sudeley Castle's Halloweek

From brewing sensory potions in the mud kitchen and making magic wands to crafting relaxing herbal bath bags to use in the tub when they get home, Dig and Delve's nature-based craft sessions take place on Wednesday 1 and Thursday 2 November 2023, to teach little witches and wizards all about traditional medicinal plants in a fun, interactive way.

Halloweek activities are included with the cost of admission to Sudeley Castle — and children under three can experience the magic for free!
