‘Tis the season to be jolly and SoGlos has rounded up a sack full of festive film screenings taking place across Gloucestershire that will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy — with charming characters, seasonal songs and heart-warming stories set to sprinkle festive cheer this December 2025.

Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost In New York

'I made my family disappear...' See Kevin McCallister's capers at Cineworld at The Brewery Quarter in Cheltenham and Gloucester Quays, with both hosting back-to-back screenings of Christmas classics Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost In New York on Sunday 14 December. TIVOLI Cinema in Cheltenham is also screening Home Alone on Saturday 13 December and Home Alone 2 on Sunday 14 December 2025. 

Elf

You'd have to be a cotton-headed ninny-muggins to miss Elf on the big screen this festive season. Catch it at Cineworld Cheltenham and Gloucester on Friday 12 December; TIVOLI Cinema in Cheltenham on Sunday 30 November; and Dunkertons Cinema Club on Sunday 14 December 2025.

The Muppet Christmas Carol

There goes Mr Humbug, there goes Mr Grim, if they gave a prize for being mean, the winner would be him! See the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, brought to life by The Muppets, on the big screen this Christmas — with showings of this family favourite at Cheltenham's Cineworld on Tuesday 16 December; TIVOLI Cinema in Cheltenham on Saturday 6 December; and at Doubletree by Hilton on Sunday 21 December 2025, during a pop-up indoor screening by The Alfresco Film Company. 

Love Actually

Classic Christmas romcom Love Actually is essential watching over the festive season — and it celebrates its 22nd anniversary this year. Grab a bucket of popcorn, cuddle up with your loved ones and enjoy a special screening at TIVOLI Cinema in Cheltenham on Sunday 7 December; and Cineworld Cheltenham and Gloucester on Thursday 18 December 2025. 

The Holiday

When a London journalist swaps the English countryside for LA, and movie trailer editor leaves the City of Angels behind for the holidays, neither of them could have imagined what they'd find on the other side of the pond. See this romantic Christmas classic at Cineworld Cheltenham and Gloucester on Friday 28 November; and TIVOLI Cinema in Cheltenham on Sunday 21 December 2025.

The Polar Express

Relive the magic of The Polar Express as it celebrates its 21st anniversary this Christmas, with screenings at Cineworld in Cheltenham and Gloucester on Tuesday 23 December 2025. Die Hard

Whether you think of it as a Christmas movie or not, Die Hard is an absolute classic, which follows New York policeman John McClane battling terrorists and rescuing hostages on a Christmas Eve he'll never forget. See it at Cineworld Cheltenham and Gloucester on Tuesday 9 December 2025. Yippee-ki-yay! 

It's A Wonderful Life

When the weight of the world gets on top of him, George Bailey is shown what things would have been like without him and his lifetime of good deeds in this heartwarming Christmas classic. It's A Wonderful Life is showing at Gloucester Guildhall on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 December; Sherborne Cinema in Gloucester on Monday 15 December; Cineworld in Cheltenham and Gloucester on Tuesday 2 December 2025; and TIVOLI Cinema in Cheltenham on Sunday 14 December 2025, too. 

The Grinch
