A £400,000 grant fund for local projects that can help communities 'stay well, feel connected and live independently' has been launched by Gloucestershire County Council.
The funding is part of the council's Thriving Communities grant programme, which supports community groups who run projects that help people with wellbeing, independence and isolation, as part of its wider adult social care early intervention and prevention strategy.
Since 2018, the scheme has funded over 370 projects across Gloucestershire, with £2.8 million invested in local communities.
Previous recipients include Mindsong in Tewkesbury, who were able to expand their 'Sing 2 Remember' sessions to support people with dementia and their families; and Men In Sheds Cheltenham & Gloucester, who encourage older men to make friends and bond over activities such as woodworking and carpentry.
Organisations can be awarded grants as small as £500, or as large as £7,500.
Cabinet member for adults' support and independence, Councillor Kate Usmar said: 'It's fantastic to support the amazing work happening in communities across Gloucestershire.
'These grants empower groups to turn great ideas into action — helping local people to stay well, feel connected and live independently for longer.'
Applications for the fund close on 28 September and can be found on the Gloucestershire County Council website.
