Cheltenham's Arle Court Transport Hub becomes home to two new National Express coach services this May 2025.
National Express 444 and 445 services relocate to the Arle Court Transport Hub on Friday 30 May 2025, with the coach operator saying the integrated hub provides a 'safer, more convenient and comfortable' connection for passengers travelling to and from Hereford, Heathrow Airport and London.
The services will continue to call at Royal Well bus station in the town centre, but the Arle Court Transport Hub stop replaces the existing stop on the A40 near the Arle Court roundabout.
Arle Court Transport Hub, which is owned and operated by Gloucestershire County Council, now hosts over 260 National Express coach journeys each week, after becoming the new home for enhanced National Express services in December 2024, in a move to improve connections for anyone travelling through Cheltenham on services 100 between Weston-super-Mare and Birmingham; 102 between Plymouth and Birmingham; 104 between Penzance and Birmingham; and 106 between Penzance and Birmingham via Bristol Airport.
It offers enhanced park and ride facilities, including an 860-space multi storey car park; a 1,000-space surface level car park; designated disabled and parent/child bays; EV charging; and cycle storage, as well as a passenger terminal with indoor and outdoor waiting areas, real-time departure information displays, a customer service desk and toilets – including a Changing Places toilet for disabled users.
Network director for National Express, Ed Rickard, said: 'We’re pleased to be improving our customers’ experience by moving our 444 and 445 stops to Arle Court Transport Hub from the end of this month, providing local residents and visitors with more convenient, comfortable public transport connections and facilities for their onward travel.'
Executive director of economy, environment and infrastructure for Gloucestershire County Council, Colin Chick, added: 'The relocation of these coach stops to Arle Court Transport Hub is fantastic news. The transport hub offers a vital link to key cities and locations across the UK, providing greater choice, convenience and affordability for those travelling by coach.
'It also supports our efforts to reduce traffic congestion and pollution in the town centre and make travel more sustainable.'
