Explorer, broadcaster and climate activist Steve Backshall is launching his new podcast 'That's Just Wild' at Cheltenham Science Festival this June 2025.

Cheltenham Science Festival has just announced that Steve Backshall is coming to the event this June 2025 – and he's launching his brand-new podcast 'That's Just Wild' at this year's festival.

In this exclusive event taking place on Tuesday 3 June 2025 at 8.15pm, Steve, alongside co-hosts wildlife biologist Lizzie Daly and eco-journalist Sarah Roberts, will launch the brand-new podcast with a live recording of the first episode from the festival's Helix venue.

Promising to dive into the 'untamed and unpredictable world of nature', the hosts will share thrilling behind-the-scenes stories from their wildest expeditions, featuring everything from jungle treks to shark encounters, as well as fascinating facts about nature and the world around us.

Suitable for those aged 12 and up, the audience at this exclusive event will be the very first to hear the new podcast as it's recorded live on the night.

Steve said: 'I'm thrilled to be launching our brand-new podcast at Cheltenham Science Festival – it's the podcast I've always wanted to make – wild stories from the front lines of nature, told with honesty, humour and the occasional scar.

'It's the perfect way to kickstart our 'That's Just Wild' journey and share our adventures for the first time with festival-goers, where we hope to spark a curiosity and love for the natural world.'

Head of programming at Cheltenham Science Festival, Marieke Navin, added: 'We’re absolutely delighted to be hosting the launch of 'That’s Just Wild' here at the Festival

'Steve Backshall, Lizzie Daly and Sarah Roberts bring an infectious sense of adventure and storytelling that fits perfectly with our mission to spark curiosity in our audiences.

'Whether you're an avid animal enthusiast, a Steve Backshall superfan, or simply curious about the wonders of the natural world, this live event is the perfect way to kick off six days of wildly entertaining science.'

Cheltenham Science Festival kicks off on Tuesday 3 and runs until Sunday 8 June 2025.

Tickets to the live recording of 'That's Just Wild' cost £11 each and are available via the Cheltenham Festivals website.
