Cirencester's own brother and sister duo Charlie and Daisy May Cooper are back with a 'spine-tingling' new TV series – and fans can hear about all the 'supernatural shenanigans' from behind the scenes at this year's Cirencester History Festival.

The stars and creators of hit BBC comedy This Country have reunited through a 'mutual and lifelong passion of all things paranormal' for their new series NightWatch, which sees them spend the night in some of the 'spookiest and reputedly most haunted' places in the country.

And as part of the second annual Cirencester History Festival, they're back in town with a special screening of the first episode – in which they spend the night locked in a small cell at Gloucester Prison – and a live Q&A hosted by local podcaster Jo Durrant, at The Bingham Hall on Friday 31 October 2025 – Halloween night!

The festival team says attendees can expect 'ghost-hunting gadgets, haunted cells and sibling banter galore' as Charlie and Daisy share behind-the-scenes secrets from the show.

Guests are also being encouraged to 'dress to distress' in historical Halloween costumes – from Victorian vampires and Georgian ghosts to Roman revenants – to embrace the spirit of a night 'that’ll go down in Cirencester’s haunted history books'.

Festival producer Jess Yarrow said: 'The best new festival on the block is back – and this year, it’s got ghosts, gadgets and the Coopers. What more could you want?'

Charlie and Daisy join a stellar line-up of leading thinkers, authors and broadcasters for this year's festival, which includes big name stars like actor Ben Miller, news legend John Suchet, 'Queen of the High Street' Mary Portas and a whole cast of renowned historians.

Now a festival ambassador following his headline appearance last year, Charlie is also appearing at another festival event, 'Trench Wars', where he'll be joined by prehistory and Roman expert Miles Russell to show the best of his metal detecting discoveries found within a few miles of town.
