Theatre-goers can catch the new adaptation of The Talented Mr Ripley at Cheltenham's Everyman Theatre from Thursday 4 to Saturday 13 September 2025.

With a new adaption of The Talented Mr Ripley launching at Cheltenham's Everyman Theatre in 2025, two faces familiar to British TV fans have been revealed in starring roles.

The Crown’s Ed McVey and Eastenders actor Maisie Smith will star as Ripley and Marge respectively in the first ever UK tour of the new adaptation, which Gloucestershire show-goers can catch at The Everyman from Thursday 4 to Wednesday 13 September 2025.

Sharing its source material with the 2000 Oscar-nominated film starring Matt Damon, Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow, along with the 2024 Netflix series starring Andrew Scott, the new adaptation of Patricia Highsmith's novel is described as 'Ripley as you've never seen him before', with 'razor-sharp dialogue, psychological intensity and a chillingly charismatic antihero'.

Best known for his debut performance as Prince William in Netflix's The Crown, starring alongside household names Imelda Staunton and Dominic West, Ed McVey takes on the iconic role of Tom Ripley – a New York 'nobody' who gets drawn into Dickie Greenleaf's world of privilege against the sun-drenched backdrop of 1950s Italy, where his obsession spirals into 'a web of lies, identity theft and murder'.

And taking on the role of Dickie's girlfriend Marge Sherwood is Maisie Smith, best known for her roles as Tiffany Butcher in Eastenders and for reaching the final of Strictly Come Dancing in 2020, having made her big screen debut in 2008 alongside Scarlett Johansson and Eddie Redmayne as a young Queen Elizabeth in The Other Boleyn Girl.

With 2025 marking 70 years since the novel was first published, the production is set to thrill audiences in theatres across the UK following its Cheltenham launch, ahead of a planned West End run next year.
