A new Gloucestershire-based brand is bringing sunglasses to an unlikely audience, with the launch of an innovative range of frames, just for babies.
Petit Peepers is a new Cheltenham online retail company – and the first ever infant sunglasses brand to be established in the UK – offering sunglasses for babies aged from six to 18 months.
Designed for 'style, safety and sunny days', the idea behind the brand is to protect babies' delicate eyes from the sun and to make infant eyewear a sunny-day essential.
The Cheltenham brand launches in August 2025 and is founded by eyewear industry expert and new mum, Laura Turner, who launched her new brand at the same time as having her first baby.
Laura said: 'When I first started developing the collection for Petit Peepers, I had no idea that I'd be juggling bringing this new brand to life with a new-born baby.
'Motherhood has given me a whole new perspective and big new insights into building a baby brand.'
Laura hopes to raise awareness about babies' sensitivity to UV rays, as their eyes are 70 per cent more sensitive than adult eyes.
The brand produces ethically-made, baby-safe products with full UV protection for every pair.
Laura added: 'We wanted to highlight the huge importance of infant eye protection. Something safe, practical, but also super cute!'
The debut range features colours such as pumpkin, rose and blue sky and blends 'retro-inspired aesthetics with thoughtful design.'
Each pair comes with a silicone strap to help keep them attached to little ones' heads, with frames designed to support the growth of babies up to 18 months old.
Petit Peepers sunglasses are available online via its website.
