Julia Donaldson's Stick Man is making an appearance at Beechenhurst in the Forest of Dean on Thursday 14 August 2025.

One of Julia Donaldson's most popular storybook creations is in the spotlight at Beechenhurst this summer.

A free, Stick Man-themed family fun day is taking place on Thursday 14 August 2025, promising cost-effective entertainment for Gloucestershire families during the summer holidays.

Don't miss your chance to meet everyone's favourite anthropomorphic stick, with Stick Man scheduled to make several appearances at 11am, 12pm, 1.30pm and 2.30pm.

Meet-and-greets are on a first-come, first-served basis, so come prepared to wait in line for your turn.

There's also a quieter SEN session planned for 3.30pm, available for pre-booked visitiors only and with limited spaces available. Be sure to contact fodrangers@forestryengland.uk to secure your place.

The free fun continues with lawn games to play, colouring in sheets to get creative with and Stick Man storytelling with the ranger team, all on the front lawn by Beechenhurst Cafe.

And of course, there's the interactive Stick Man trail to complete, too. Pick up an activity pack from the cafe or info hatch and set off on a self-led adventure through the woods, helping Stick Man to find his way back to his family tree.

Aimed at children aged three to nine but fun for all ages, the trail starts just past Go Ape and follows hard forest tracks for one mile — making it fully accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs.

The Stick Man fun day at Beechenhurst is free to attend, but just note that parking charges apply.
