Plans have been submitted to Cheltenham Borough Council’s planning team to turn the former Bright House store on Cheltenham’s Lower High Street into a new two-floor Burger King restaurant and takeaway.

Located next to Specsavers opticians, the fast food restaurant plans include 76 seats in the upstairs dining area and 33 seats downstairs; along with a lift, toilets and staff room.

Although permission hasn’t yet been granted, planning teams have until Wednesday 10 October to decide on the application.

The restaurant closed its former Cheltenham branch in 2015, leaving Gloucester’s Peel Centre restaurant as the closest alternative for Whopper fans.
