Foston's Ash Inn at The Camp near Stroud serves up a modern take on traditional pub food, made with locally sourced, seasonal produce.

Cotswolds pub the Foston's Ash is inviting diners to soak up the sun and enjoy views of the countryside as they tuck into its delicious modern take on traditional pub food, this July and August.

On top of seasonal dishes to enjoy alfresco, there's live entertainment, classic garden games and more to look forward to at the countryside inn at The Camp this summer.

Served Wednesday to Saturday, with lunch from 12 until 2.30pm and dinner from 6 until 8.30pm, its new summer à la carte menu features dishes like chilled gazpacho with Isle of Wight tomatoes on focaccia to start; mains including south coast mackerel with gooseberries and bagna cauda; and desserts like burnt Basque cheesecake and summer fruits.

Diners can also enjoy snacks like Nocerella olives or smoked haddock croquettes along with cocktails to start, from strawberry and mint daiquiris to pink basil sours, as well as a choice of 'Foston's Favourites' – an 8oz Gloucester beef burger, Slad Valley mushroom burger or fish and chips.

Also on Sundays throughout the summer, there's an alternative for when you don't feel like a roast on a hot day, with BBQ Sunday lunch – a barbecued half Cotswold chicken served with new potatoes, leaf salad and aioli, with a glass of house wine all for £22.50.

Then in August, the pub is hosting two special events for its visitors – a lively Summer Garden Soirée and its inaugural Pétanque Cup.

Taking place on Saturday 9 August 2025, guests at the Summer Garden Soirée will be treated to live music all evening, 'great tasting' BBQ and all kinds of refreshment from its well-stocked bar – including 'exceptional' lagers from Bristol brewery Lost & Grounded, local beers and ciders, wines from around the world and an impressive range of freshly made cocktails.

Then on Sunday 17 August, there's an afternoon of boules-based fun and the chance to win prizes, in the pub's first ever Pétanque Cup.

A knockout competition played in teams of two, players will battle it out to roll their boules more accurately than their opponents – with a £100 bar tab up for grabs for the winners and a homemade Foston's Ash hamper for the second placed team.

Starting at 12pm, it costs £20 to enter, with a French-inspired lunch being served halfway through the competition, too.
