One of the Cotswolds' most picturesque and historic villages, Kelmscott is home to The Plough Inn, which unveiled its new menu in April 2025.
With honey-coloured stone walls, original 17th-century features and a new menu of sophisticated British classics, it's ideal for sunny spring and summer days and cosy evenings while there's still a chill in the air.

Inside The Plough Inn at Kelmscott

The inn itself is as steeped in history as the village it sits within, with furnishings and decor complimenting its stone walls, wooden beamed ceilings and roaring fireplaces.
As well as dining, The Plough offers eight stunningly designed bedrooms for overnight guests looking to escape the city and enjoy a romantic weekend getaway in the Cotswolds.
Situated in the quaint village of Kelmscott, near Lechlade, The Plough Inn is ideally located for exploring its beautiful surroundings, too.
Local attractions include the nearby Kelmscott Manor, which was once home to British designer William Morris, as well as the Thames Path, which is just a short walk away, offering scenic strolls and cycling opportunities.
What's on the menu at The Plough Inn Kelmscott?

The menu celebrates classic British dishes but ensures each has a modern twist.
Guests can indulge in comforting starters such as a double Gloucester souffle or seasonal soup, followed by a variety of main course options including steak frites with Cafe de Paris butter or battered haddock with chips and crushed peas.
Sundays are also special at The Plough with its famously good roasts drawing locals and visitors alike.
Light bites are covered on the lunch menu, packed with sandwiches all served on white or wholemeal bloomer bread — with fillings including Cotswold brie and red onion chutney; roasted ham, English mustard and tomato; or roast beef, horseradish cream and rocket.
Those who choose to stay over can take advantage of the inn's breakfast menu, too, featuring smashed avocado with poached eggs and chilli flakes; smoked bacon or sausage sandwiches; and The Plough Full English.
