The Kings Head Hotel in Cirencester has fully reopened under new ownership this autumn 2025, with a refurbished bar and brasserie ready to welcome guests back.
Now in the hands of Oxfordshire-based hospitality operator Brakspear, the ground floor of the 14th-century former coaching inn has been given a fresh new look and feel, with 'characterful, charming' interiors that celebrate Cotswold artisanal craftsmanship and cultural heritage.
Fabrics and wallpapers from 'iconic' local designer William Morris and reclaimed local timbers have been used throughout to complement the building’s original features, from exposed stone and brick to oak beams, Georgian wood panelling and a recently uncovered Roman mosaic floor that's protected by a glass covering.
The hotel's bar area has also been transformed into a cosy town centre pub, featuring leather tub armchairs, chesterfield sofas and an inglenook fireplace, with log fires burning daily during the colder months.

The bar offers an impressive range of 70 carefully selected wines and champagnes – with 16 available by the glass – as well as Brakspear's own beer Gravity and local ale, Corinium Gold, along with a classic pub food menu.

Its 80-cover, informal brasserie is also open all day, offering modern British menus of 'elevated pub classics' and 'more innovative' dishes made with sustainably sourced, seasonal produce showcasing local suppliers and producers where possible, alongside fresh daily fish deliveries from Devon.

The hotel's exterior has also been given a fresh lick of paint with a bright new colour scheme; and there's new outdoor seating along its frontage that's ideal for coffee and brunch amongst the town centre bustle.

The ground floor refurbishments – which also include the hotel's lobby – compliment the Kings Head's 64 individually styled rooms and range of events spaces for hire, for everything from weddings, parties and dinners to business meetings.
The new and improved Kings Head Hotel in Cirencester is open everyday of the week from 7am until 11pm.
