Pizza giant Domino's has been given the green light to open in Cinderford, becoming the first full-scale, global fast food franchise in the Forest of Dean.
The new takeaway on Cinderford High Street has been approved by Forest of Dean District Council's planning committee this September 2025 – despite councillors' concerns about litter, obesity and parking – according to Carmelo Garcia, local democracy reporter.
It will occupy the town's former Lloyd's Bank building, with agreed works including the installation of extraction and ventilation equipment, along with minor external alterations.
Its interior will consist of a customer area with a counter, an area for food preparation, an office, an open storage room, a cold room and two lobby areas on the ground floor, while existing toilets, a wash up area and refuse bin storeroom will be retained.
Outside, the existing ATM enclosure will be removed and a new external wall will be built in line with the main building.

Domino's will become the first global fast food chain to open at stand-alone premises in the Forest of Dean, with Subway having previously operated from Cinderford's Applegreen petrol station, before being replaced by British chain Greggs.
It follows previous plans to open a joint KFC and Greggs restaurant on the outskirts of Coleford, which were rejected by the council last year due to issues relating to its location. There is also a stand-alone Greggs with indoor seating in Lydney.
The takeaway will open from 11am to 11pm daily, with customers and delivery drivers expected to use both on-street parking and a nearby council-run car park, planning officers said.
Councillor John Francis put on record his apologies to residents and high street users for the likely impact of the takeaway on parking, obesity and litter, adding that councillors' powers to affect such issues are 'limited'.
