Gloucester Cathedral has teamed up with Gloucester Brewery to create its very own beer.
Its brand-new CathedrALE is inspired by the ancient tradition of beer making in monasteries.
The monks who inhabited the cathedral in its previous guise as St Peter's Abbey would have brewed and consumed beer as part of their everyday life, with CathedrALE drawing on this part of the cathedral's heritage.
Brewed in partnership with Gloucester Brewery, based down at the docks, CathedrALE is a 4.5 per cent session IPA, with hazy, zesty and tropical notes, making it an ideal easy drinking beer for summer.
The beer has even been blessed by the Dean of Gloucester, the Very Reverend Andrew Zihni, at a special ceremony at Gloucester Brewery's Warehouse 4.

CathedrALE is available for £4.50 per can at the Gloucester Cathedral gift shop and at The Monk's Kitchen – and 10 per cent of the proceeds from every can go towards preserving and restoring the 14th century Cloister, which famously featured as Hogwarts in the Harry Potter movies.
To get your hands on a can of CathedrALE, visit Gloucester Cathedral's gift shop during regular visiting hours from 10am to 5pm Monday to Friday; 10am to 4pm Saturday; and 12pm to 2.30pm and 4pm to 5pm Sunday.
Gloucester Cathedral has also just announced a 'powerful' new sound and light installation coming this autumn 2025, when Luxmuralis returns with the immersive 'Poppy Fields'.
