Set to take Gloucester's cafe culture by storm, Karak Chaii launches on Worcester Street this July 2025 – serving up authentic Indian street food and traditional chai to spicy food fans.

After travelling through the Indian sub-continent and throughout the middle east, founders Javed and Sara launched their first stylish desi cafe in their home city of Birmingham — and now, with successful franchises across the UK, the brand's chosen Gloucester to open its 25th venue.

On the drinks menu, expect Karak's signature chai tea, Indian lemonade, fruity coolers with flavoured bubbles, dessert drinks and more.

The cafe also serves breakfast dishes including desi shakshuka and masala omelette toasties; alongside authentic street food spanning chicken biryani, roti and pakora bites to Bombay tikka sandwiches and butter chicken rolls.

Those with a sweet tooth can opt for a selection of ice cream flavours, as well as desserts such milk cake, gulab jamon and cheesecake.

Plus, keen beans will be rewarded, as on opening day the team will be serving free chai to customers from 12pm to 11pm.

The brand has ambitious expansion plans including reaching 40 stores by the end of 2025 and to grow internationally, venturing into markets in the US, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Pakistan and Dubai.

Karak Chaii officially opens in Gloucester on Friday 25 July 2025 and will operate from 8am until 11pm Monday to Saturday and 9am until 10pm on Sundays.
