Sorrel Stores – an independent cafe, restaurant and community space in The Suffolks – is closing its doors this February 2026.
Customers have just one brunch service left, with the restaurant having already hosted its last evening service on Saturday 24 January 2026.
Sorrel Stores opened in August 2023, with the aim of creating a community space serving coffee, seasonal small plates, cocktails and wine, with retail opportunities for small businesses and artists.
Citing a struggle echoed by hospitality businesses across Gloucestershire, and the rest of the UK, the official statement on Sorrel Stores' Instagram page said: 'After much thought, we’ve made the very difficult decision to close Sorrel. Running a small business committed to fresh food and good values has become increasingly difficult in the current climate.
'We are so proud of what we’ve achieved together. From transforming from an old Indian restaurant, our talented chefs hosting their own kitchen takeover evenings, welcoming all the good dogs, working with amazing local creators and seeing our regulars every day, you are the reason we love hospitality and these are the moments we’ll treasure...
'Thank you to every one of you who has come through our doors, supported us, cheered us on and shared good times here. You’ve made this community what it is and we hope you’ll keep supporting other local independents where you can.'
Sorrel Stores final brunch service takes place from 9am to 1pm on Saturday 31 January 2026, then the cafe remains open for coffee and cake between 8am and 12.30pm until it closes on Friday 13 February 2026.
Its sister venue, Botanica Coffee Kitchen on Bramery Business Park, is unaffected.
