A new independent Italian restaurant is opening at Gloucester Quays in 2026.

The team behind Sef Steakhouse in Cheltenham is behind the new venue, called Banchina Italian, describing it as a casual dining restaurant inspired by 'years of travel across Italy, from the Amalfi Coast and Naples to Lake Como and the Dolomites'.

Diners can expect a menu full of 'fresh, premium ingredients and well-executed Italian classics' served from an open kitchen, with a Neapolitan pizza oven at the heart of the restaurant, providing a sense of spectacle.

The restaurant will have around 130 covers, with Amalfi Coast-inspired decor featuring warm colours, soft lighting, natural textures and a modern Mediterranean aesthetic – and will be open for lunch and dinner.

Banchina Italian is the team's second restaurant venture, alongside the successful Cheltenham steakhouse, with plans to bring the same attention to detail and guest experience to a more casual format.

Many of the team have personal connections to Italy, which have helped shape the restaurant's philosophy that 'great food, warm hospitality and beautiful surroundings should feel effortless'.

The opening date for Banchina Italian is yet to be confirmed, but is likely to be late February or early March 2026.
