The Active Gloucestershire summer campaign is about making movement more accessible, enjoyable and inclusive.

This summer 2025, Active Gloucestershire is encouraging people of all ages and abilities to walk, wheel or roll their way through the county’s stunning urban and rural landscapes to see what fresh sights they can uncover.

Launched on Monday 7 July 2025, the inclusive initiative is running throughout the school summer holidays.

The campaign aims to promote physical and mental wellbeing, increase awareness of accessible routes and foster a sense of community through themed activities and local partnerships.

It's also highlighting some of the county’s most accessible routes as well as encouraging people to travel via sustainable transport, making the most of assets like the cycle spine and the new transport hub at Arle Court.

Participants will also be supported with helpful information on how to prepare for their stroll or roll, including what to wear, how to stay safe and what to take.

The campaign is shining a spotlight on creative and engaging activities to enjoy along the way, such as geocaching, nature spotting, historic walks, mindfulness and community art.

CEO at Active Gloucestershire, Tom Beasey, said: 'We are very lucky to live in a county which is so rich with beautiful places to walk and roll.

'We want everyone to experience the beauty of Gloucestershire that’s on their doorstep, regardless of age, ability or experience.

'This campaign is about making movement more accessible, enjoyable and inclusive and we’re encouraging people to discover what our county has to offer in a sustainable way, by walking, wheeling or using public transport to get to their destination.'

The campaign will roll out in four themed phases online across the summer. The first, which is available now, covers tips, safety and preparation.

From Monday 21 July 2025, there'll be details online on urban walking routes, highlighting some of the best cityscapes and town trails.

The hills and horizons of rural adventures will be outlined from Monday 4 August 2025.

From Monday 18 August 2025 nature, art, history and mindfulness will be focused on, giving plenty of inspiration to stroll and explore.
