Sue Ryder, the charity behind Gloucestershire's only in-patient palliative care unit, is official partner for the third year running for this year's Gloucester Half Marathon and 10k — challenging runners to go the distance and help raise money for its expert and compassionate palliative care and bereavement support.
Taking place on Sunday 22 March 2026, entries are open now for people to join the running team and help the charity raise vital funds so it can continue to be there for families when it matters most.
The event, expertly organised by RunThrough each year, will see hundreds of participants race through the city and surrounding suburbs, following a circular route that starts and finishes at Gloucester Park.
Choose to tackle 10k or 13.1 miles and set off on a scenic course that passes through the city centre, around iconic landmark Gloucester Cathedral, before heading into the suburbs along a closed road circuit, taking runners through Gloucester and Quedgeley and along the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal path.
From total beginners to runners ready to hit their next personal best, as well as racing regulars who are already comfortable going the distance, it promises to be an unmissable event in the UK's running calendar.
Community fundraising manager at Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice, Matt Reay, said: 'Support through events like this are so important to us to raise money for families needing our care, and awareness of the expert and compassionate services we provide to people in Gloucester, and across the county. From our Sue Ryder hospice near Cheltenham, to people in their own home, as well as bereavement support to loved ones including from our new Grief Kind Spaces in Gloucester and Cheltenham.'
Last year's event helped raise over £18,500, with the funds raised in 2026 continuing to help Sue Ryder provide its compassionate palliative care and bereavement support.
Registration costs just £5 to run the 10k route or £10 for the half marathon, with £150 or £200 fundraising targets, depending on which distance you choose.
