Gloucester Library announces its new state-of-the-art building will officially open from Saturday 13 October 2025.

Relocation plans were approved for the library to move from its current home on Brunswick Road in Gloucester to the University of Gloucestershire's new City Campus premises in September 2022, with a grand opening taking place from 9am on the Saturday to welcome visitors in style.

Councillor and cabinet member for libraries at Gloucestershire County Council, Paul Hodgkinson, said: 'I'm absolutely delighted to see this move finally coming to fruition.

'The city campus will completely reinvigorate Kings Square in Gloucester and by providing the library service in the same building as the university there will be a hive of exciting activities all in the same place.

'We really appreciate library users' patience while we move and hope they'll try one of the other nearby Gloucester libraries during the short closure.'

The final day people can visit the new location is Saturday 27 September, with the old library building closing permanently on Friday 12 October 2025.
