Malvern Autumn Show has proved a whopping success this September 2025, with not just one world record broken but six!
The fiercely competitive CANNA UK National Giant Vegetables Championship pulled in more than 65,000 visitors to admire produce from 132 growers from Friday 26 to Sunday 28 September 2025.
Stars of the show, at Three Counties Showground in Malvern, proved to be runner beans, radishes, aubergines, sweet peppers, celeriac, tomato and a luffa plant.
Grower Peter Glazebrook broke two world records with his world's longest aubergine coming in at 49cm. His second stunning win was for the world's tallest runner bean plant which stretched to a staggering 8.006 metres.
Joe Atherton took the crown for the world's longest radish which measured in at 7.848 metres.
Streaky star duo Kevin and Gareth Fortey delivered the world's longest sweet pepper, coming in at 26.7cm.
While the world's heaviest celeriac, at 8.01kg, was grown by Chris Marriott. The tallest luffa plant, grown by Graham Barratt, measured 11.672m.
The UK and European record was broken by Douglas Smith with his heaviest tomato weighing in at 4.39kg.
Some growers opted to carry in their colossal veg on foot whilst some supersized squashes, which were too huge to handle, were brought in using a telehandler.
'We’re absolutely over the moon with the number of entries world records broken at this year’s CANNA UK National Giant Vegetables Championship,' said Kate Dufton, show manager at Malvern Autumn Show.
'It’s a real testament to the dedication and passion of the growers, and it’s fantastic to see so many visitors inspired by the fun and possibilities of growing your own food – especially when it comes in giant form!'
