A new kid on the Cotswolds hospitality block opens its doors this September 2025 as HYLL launches in Charingworth, just outside Chipping Campden.
A restored 17th-century manor house that sits within 60 acres of meadow, woodland and hills, the Grade II-listed main house has been extended to include adjoining former outbuildings.
Often frequented by poet TS Eliot during his visits to the Cotswolds, it is documented that the poet wrote Burnt Norton while staying at the manor during the 1930s.
Inside the manor, Manchester-based design studio, YOUTH, has created interiors that combine English character with modern warmth, with Cotswold stone, aged metals and weathered timber featuring throughout the hotel.
Uncluttered bedrooms have with open views and well-stocked pantries. And an ongoing partnership with Borzoi Books in Stow-on-the-Wold brings a curated in-room reading menu.
At the centre of the hotel is a low-key restaurant led by chef Mark Coleman that plans to serve a changing menu sourced from local farms, mills and distilleries.
A monthly Sunday walk followed by a communal four-course lunch is open to guests and locals and a supper club series is planned to feature authors and artists.
Guests are encouraged to explore the hotel estate's fields and woodlands. And a growing sculpture collection is also dotted across the grounds.
HYLL has teamed up with a small group of British makers and independent brands, chosen for quality and shared values. Guests have Verden toiletries, Private White VC jackets for walking, Grind coffee machines and locally-made ceramics.
Wellness specialist Kathryn McCusker has worked with the hotel to create a range of in-room guided meditations as well as sound bath and breathwork sessions.
Further partnerships are planned to move with the seasons for a series of events, including a ‘Meet the Makers’ series on HYLL’s social channels and a 12 Days of Christmas programme in December.
In 2026, HYLL is adding a new events barn for weddings, performances and private gatherings. Designed by Tim Groom Architects and built from local stone and timber, the barn will seat 150 with panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
Room rates start from £350 for bed and breakfast.
