The Forest of Dean has been named as one of the top European holiday destinations to get bang for your buck in 2025.
One of three UK locations to make the top 10, the Forest ranked 10th in a list of Europe's most budget-friendly holiday destinations in a study by credit card provider, Aqua.
The ranking is based on the average cost of several factors including travel for UK residents; three star accommodation; a meal out; a pint and a local transport ticket.
In 2025, the average pint in the Forest costs just £3, according to the study, while the average meal out costs £15.
Both of those are comparable to the rest of the top 10, while the cheapest pint and meal can be found in Prague, at £2.01 and £7.20 respectively.
But the average cost of accommodation in the Forest, based on one week for two adults, was the second highest of the top ten at £1,131 – hundreds more than most of the others and more than double that of Budapest.
The Hungarian capital topped the overall ranking, while of UK destinations, the Lake District came sixth and Blackpool ranked eighth.
