Stroud District Council is adding three exciting new Cotswold Way walks to its free walking trails app this May 2025.
It's the first time that the Cotswold Way will feature on the app, with Stroud District Council saying it is 'very excited' to 'finally' showcase the Stroud sections of this epic 102-mile walking route to residents and visitors.
There are three new Cotswold Way-based walking trails available, with routes from Painswick to King's Stanley; King's Stanley to Dursley; and Dursley to Wotton-under-Edge.
As well as providing a guided trail to follow, the app features information about the Cotswold Way, fun facts about the areas surrounding each trail, great local places to eat and drink, as well as practical information on facilities like car parks, train stations, toilets and accessibility to help walkers make the most of their visit.
Stroud District Council is working with Cotswold National Landscape to give ambitious walkers some handy tips and tricks to help them tackle the route, too.
Designed so people can discover the Stroud district's hidden gems and encourage locals to explore more of the places they live, the app features a wide range of local walking routes, including circular walks, well-known routes like the W.A.S. Stroud Five Valleys walk and walks designed for different interests.
Film fans can following the film and TV trail to spot the filming locations from their favourite shows; literature lovers can embark on the Shakespeare walk; while those looking to immerse themselves in nature can follow the fragrant elderflower trail.
There are canal walks that take in Stroud's picturesque waterways; and market town trails where visitors can explore the pretty towns and villages across the district, like Minchinhampton, Nailsworth, Painswick and Wotton-under-Edge.
Providing inspiration all-year-round, there are also seasonal trails like the Ghosts and Gallows Halloween trail and the 12 Days of Christmas trail.
And ideal for families, there are scavenger hunts and quizzes to try, including a standalone Stratford Park hunt which encourages children to explore nature in the park – and coming soon, a foodie scavenger hunt to try the tastiest local products in the district.
The Discover Stroud District Trails app is available for iPhone and Android devices.
