March 2008 saw the re-opening of a play area, which was first opened by Henry Dent-Brocklehurst in 1975 when he was just 9 years old, featuring a new, bigger and better wooden fort, climbing towers, slide and zip wire. This attraction is also popular with families thanks to its ongoing exhibitions, 14 acres of award-winning gardens and a pheasantry and wildfowl area housing a collection of 15 rare and endangered species of birds from around the world.
