The Museum of Gloucester’s latest fascinating exhibition brings the story of doomed ocean liner, Titanic, to Gloucester.
Sailing into the city from Wednesday 29 June to Thursday 29 September 2022, Titanic: Honour and Glory marks 110 years since the vessel sank on its maiden voyage.
Revealing its incredible legacy through a collection of rare artefacts from the Titanic itself and its sister ships on the White Star Line, visitors will be able to see genuine china dinner plates from the ship; personal belongings from the passengers and crew, including a nightdress that belonged to a first class passenger; as well as a nameplate from one of the ship’s lifeboats.
Film fans can see costumes and props from James Cameron’s 1997 blockbuster movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet – including the famous Heart of the Ocean necklace.
The exhibition also reveals Gloucester’s connections to the Titanic, giving it particular resonance with the local community, with the museum also due to announce a programme of family and educational activities alongside the event.
Named by The Times as one of the top five exhibitions in the UK, it’s definitely not to be missed.
Tickets to Titanic: Honour and Glory cost £4.95 for adults, £3.95 for senior citizens and £2.95 for those aged 18 to 25 and are available to book online in advance from museumofgloucester.co.uk/exhibitions. Under 18s can visit for free.
