The Hollie Gazzard Trust is hosting a free business breakfast this July 2025, giving business leaders, managers and HR professionals the opportunity to learn how to make their workplaces safer for victims of domestic abuse and stalking.
Hosted by the charity at the TSB corporate office in Gloucester, the day begins with coffee and pastries before keynote speeches from charity founder Nick Gazzard OBE; Sophie Wootton-Lee from the office of Alex McIntyre, MP for Gloucester; and superintendent of Avon and Somerset Police, Sharon Baker.
There will also be panel discussions including local businesses and domestic abuse survivors, chaired by representatives from the trust.
All employers have a legal and moral responsibility to safeguard the wellbeing of their staff – including taking action to understand and address the impact of domestic abuse and stalking in the workplace.
For many victims, domestic abuse follows them to their workplace, with 81 per cent of abuse continuing at work through emails and phone calls and 47 per cent of abuse survivors having been stalked outside of or at their workplace.
Nine in 10 victims say abuse affects their performance at work, resulting in an estimated £17 billion loss for UK businesses every year, due to time off and loss of productivity.
This workshop will help employers understand best practice when it comes to domestic abuse and stalking, with real-world examples and practical strategies to proactively protect staff, from creating and improving internal policies to signposting external resources.
It will also cover the proposed new Domestic Abuse (Safe Leave) Bill, which is currently making its way through parliament, to give domestic abuse victims paid leave to make themselves and their families safe.
Tickets are free but places are limited and must be pre-booked in advance via Ticketpass.
