Tour a selection of gorgeous gardens and take in classic countryside entertainment at the 36th Barnsley Village Festival, this May 2026.

Founded by late British gardening icon, Rosemary Verey, Barnsley Village Festival is returning for its 36th year of outdoor celebrations on Saturday 16 May 2026.

Taking place at various gardens and venues around the gorgeous Cotswold village of Barnsley, in between Cirencester and Bibury, the festival sponsored by Burford Garden Company, celebrates all that this quintessential village has to offer − whilst raising money for local charities and bringing the local community together.

What gardens are open at Barnsley Village Festival 2026?

Usually only open to hotel guests, the stunning gardens of THE PIG Hotel are open to all on the festival day, Saturday 16 May 2026, with a tour of their extensive kitchen garden. Built of beautiful Cotswold stone, the hotel features a stunning four-acre garden area, set among tall and beautiful trees that lead onto the glorious fields for visitors to tour.

Also open to all throughout the day are the stunning gardens of Barnsley Park, with its 18th-century orangery; as well as Musgrove Arboretum, designed by Lord Faringdon and planted 30 years ago, and many more.

What's on at Barnsley Village Festival 2026?

In addition to the open gardens, Barnsley Village Festival includes activities for children including face painting and a chance to meet calves; as well as stalls selling crafts, plants, food and drink and ceramics on Saturday 16 May 2026.

Plus, don't miss the programme of entertainment on offer, including bell-ringing; Morris dancers; an owl display; local artists exhibition; and live music from the Splash of Red Choir and a cappella group, Out of the Blue.

Enjoy tea and cake from the Village Hall Cafe or a cold beverage in the beer garden in The Village Pub, before taking a look at the range of stunning classic cars and impressive vintage tractors on display throughout the day.
