With a new case to crack, Sherlock and Watson appear on Cheltenham's Everyman Theatre stage in January 2026.

A thrilling adventure is coming to Gloucestershire in the new year when the world premiere of Sherlock Holmes: The Hunt for Moriarty appears on Cheltenham's Everyman Theatre stage.

Running from Tuesday 20 to Saturday 24 January 2026, audiences will be transported back to 1901, London.

As the British Empire wages war in the name of a Queen whose health is failing, a series of mysterious events reveal a crack in the high corridors, threatening to destabilise monarchy, government and empire.

And at its centre, controlling the flow of information and influence, a shadowy figure plans a deadly final move...

Caught up in the game, not knowing who they can trust, Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson race against time, aware that the most powerful person in the world could be playing into the hand of one of the most corrupt.

But how much is Holmes willing to sacrifice as he faces ‘checkmate’?
