Direct from London's West End, see the ultimate rock experience when Wilko: Love and Death and Rock 'n' Roll appears at Cheltenham’s Everyman Theatre this summer.
Running from Tuesday 5 to Saturday 9 August, audiences will see a moving and exciting mixture of drama, comedy and live rock 'n' roll with the play following the true story of Wilko Johnson – the punk pioneer, poet, philosopher and astronomer.
In 2012, Wilko was told he had inoperable cancer and just a year to live. Refusing all treatment, he decided to spend his last months living meaningfully: seeing the people, places and things that meant most to him during his remarkable life.
Then, a miracle happened.
For each performance, the band will be joined by special guests from the world of stage, screen and music.
On Tuesday, expect Norman Watt-Roy – from Ian Dury and the Blockheads and the Wilko Johnson Band – and Wilko's son, Simon Johnson; joined for a post-show Q and A with Charlie Chan, the Cheltenham doctor who saved Wilko's life.
Cheltenham Blues Legends night featuring Keith Thompson, Mark Cole and Stuart Earl will appear on Wednesday; with James Oliver, Mark Kemlo and Norman Watt-Roy for Thursday's matinee.
Thursday evening, see Spike, founding member of The Quireboys and Luke Morley; and star of stage and screen Keith Allen and Nick Reynolds on Friday.
Then during Saturday's matinee, see Matty James Cassidy and Mike 'Gaff' Gaffney from The Real Villains; with Saturday evening's guests still to be announced.
