Gloucestershire families are invited to experience the inspirational learning environment at The King's School Gloucester at its open morning on Saturday 4 October 2025.
The multi-award-winning independent school, which was opened by King Henry VIII in 1541, celebrates 485 years of educating children in 2025 – and is welcoming the next generation of pupils to discover this forward-thinking, all-through school for themselves.
Families can take a guided tour of the school with a current pupil, trying out fun activities from science experiments and car racing to rugby and hockey skills along the way – with an opportunity see King Henry himself and learn all about the school's history when exploring the famous Cloister at Gloucester Cathedral just next door, too.
Visitors will hear from King's headmaster David Morton and head of the Junior School, Anne Haas, who will answer questions from the audience – with prizes for the best questions and answers!
Then they'll head to the main hall to sample the menu and get to know some of the subject staff with an informal chat over lunch, before heading home.
With small class sizes, stimulating and engaging lessons and a broad range of co-curricular activities from music, performing and creative arts to sport, King's encourages students to pursue their passions inside and outside of the classroom and develop a lifelong love of learning.
The school has received high praise from The Good Schools Guide and was rated excellent in all areas in its latest ISI inspection, which highlighted students' excellent academic achievement and personal development – with the Open Morning providing the ideal opportunity for families to see the school in action.
Anyone wishing to attend must register online in advance and book an arrival time, with slots available at 9am, 9.30am, 10am and 10.30am.
