Earl’s & Co is an independently run beauty salon and barbershop located on Cheltenham’s Regent Street that offers a relaxing setting for men and women to enjoy a spot of pampering.
Promising a Zen-like pamper experience in your own home, SoGlos road-tested the brand new on-the-road At Home service from Cheltenham's Earl's & Co beauty salon.
Popular Cheltenham beauty salon, Champagne nail bar and barbershop, Earl's & Co, added to its offering in summer 2017 with the launch of its new At Home service, which brings its award-winning salon experience to you, to enjoy in the comfort of your own home.
Having been a regular at Cheltenham's Earl's & Co since it opened its doors five years ago, I was excited to have the opportunity to try out its newly launched At Home service. And with a baby on the way, the timing was perfect to experience the new concept, which is designed with new mums, group pamper sessions, and wedding prep parties in mind.
The At Home service is the brainchild of the founder of the independent business, Jessica Earl, who wanted to replicate the award-winning salon experience that Earl’s & Co has become known for, just on the road.
The At Home treatments include everything from blow dries, make-up application and gents’ haircuts, to regular or Shellac manicures and pedicures. With a last-minute getaway to Majorca on the cards, I decided to go for the Shellac gel manicure so I could have perfectly preened nails while I soaked up the autumn sun.
Jess arrived at my house with her streamlined kit on tow – an Earl’s & Co director’s chair and an impressive pull-along nail polish caddy that transforms into the table for the treatment, which she had specially designed so that it’s easily portable, practical for carrying lots of polishes, and still looks stylish.
The scene was set as Jess put on some music, unpacked her manicure essentials, and poured me a glass of sparkling grapefruit, with perfectly chilled bubbly also on offer if you’re drinking – completing the salon experience to a t.
Jess began by shaping my nails, before giving my much-overlooked cuticles the attention they needed. A buff of the nails, an invigorating rub with hot mitts and a relaxing massage followed – leaving my hands super soft and my nails shiny and healthy.
The range of Shellac colours is impressive and even though I was tempted by summery shades, I decided to go for a slightly more seasonal choice of Denim Patch, which is a lovely blue tone.
I was really pleased with the finished result and got lots of compliments on the colour. After two-and-a-half weeks my nails still looked good, with no chips and only a bit of regrowth, and with Earl’s & Co offering free in-salon removal it’s simple to pop in to get the polish take off or you can book another At Home treatment to have it replaced.
The At Home service is such a fun concept, it was a treat to be pampered without leaving the house, which is something I’ll definitely be taking advantage off when I have a new baby! Earl’s & Co has four portable manicure stations making the At Home treatments perfect for baby showers, hen parties, and birthdays, or just a nice excuse to get the girls round!
The At Home treatments are slightly more expensive, but with no parking costs and a hassle-free service, it’s certainly worth paying a bit more for the privilege.
