SoPublishing has secured exclusive trademark rights to the So name and associated branding across key publishing and digital content categories.

Officially recognised by the UK Intellectual Property Office, the combined trademark registration covers both the textual word and its visual logo mark.

An important brand asset, the news further cements SoPublishing’s professional reputation and market-leading position in SoGlos's 18th year of celebrating Gloucestershire, while also preparing the independent publishing company for ambitious growth – adding credibility, authority and important legal protection.

Launched in 2007, SoPublishing's flagship title SoGlos has become known for its quality content produced by expert local journalists and reaches a monthly audience of 1.6 million through its network of platforms, including the online magazine; newsletters; social media channels; in addition to its series of high-profile live events including the Gloucestershire Business Awards and Gloucestershire Lifestyle & Community Awards.

Alongside its iconic media brand, SoGlos has carved out a distinctive niche in regional media by combining professional journalism with data-driven and creative marketing opportunities to build a sustainable commercial model that celebrates and champions local – partnering with and supporting Gloucestershire's public and private sector organisations, and driving the local economy.

‘Achieving the So trademarks is a significant step in the evolution of the So brand,’ Michelle Fyrne, CEO of SoPublishing said. ‘It strengthens the strong foundations we’ve built over almost two decades and ensures that our brand identity is protected as we continue to scale, innovate and champion independent regional media.’

James Fyrne, SoPublishing’s managing director, added: ‘While upholding the significant trust and reputation SoGlos has built with its local audience and partners over the past 18 years remains our top priority, this strategic milestone transforms the So brand into a legally protected asset, ready for expansion and long‑term growth'.
