Cheltenham IT consultancy Fat Potato brings together decades of IT experience to create solutions for clients across Gloucestershire and beyond.

Using the most up-to-date technology, the firm specialises in Cloud technology and migration from legacy platforms to bespoke, cutting-edge systems to support businesses of all shapes and sizes.

And it's proving it really knows its stuff.

Fat Potato recently joined the AWS Partner Network, linking its Cheltenham base with a global community of more than 130,000 partners in 200 countries that bring together technologies and tools to create innovative services.

SoGlos caught up with its chief operating officer Jo Walsh to get the lowdown on how this fast moving firm is looking to the future.

How would you describe the nature of your business to the uninitiated?

Fat Potato, established in 2016, is a people-first company.

We firmly believe in harnessing the transformative potential of technology to cultivate inclusivity, ensuring that every individual feels genuinely valued and embraced within our vibrant community.

How did your business come about?

As engineers ourselves we have always been passionate about working very closely with our customers and getting really involved to understand and then solve their problems.

Over time we’ve had similarly passionate people join us and grow from a husband and wife team to a fully fledged small to medium sized enterprise with 20 employees.

How have the first few years of business gone?

We have doubled each year for the last three years in terms of size and turnover — which we don’t expect to continue!

We have been able to grow our business with amazing staff who are really dedicated and passionate about helping our customers.

We’ve also just achieved AWS Partner status which recognises the support we’ve given businesses on their Cloud journeys.

What are you most looking forward to for the future of the business?

This year we are launching a product that's focused on supporting other small to medium sized enterprises.

It was initially developed purely for ourselves in-house but talking to other businesses, we realised it was something that could help them too, so we are working on getting that ready for launch very soon.

What are your big ambitions for the next five years?

We’d like to continue to grow — although at a slightly slower rate!

We are hoping our product launch goes well and that we'll have a set of customers that we’ve helped improve their business functions with our application.

Why is Gloucestershire a great place to do business?

It's got a really friendly community and the local area is very supportive of local businesses and does go the extra mile to help facilitate connections.
